Our little country

Colombia is a country located in south America, Colombia is located in the northern tip of south America, Colombia has a large variety of climates and biomes, and it is one of the few countries that has all climates in the world. Colombia also has shores in both the Atlantic and Pacific ocean, Colombia is a beautiful country with some of the most diverse Fauna and Flora in the planet, it also has several biological landmarks such as Caño Cristales, Sierra nevada de Santa Marta, San Andres and Providencia, and the Amazon rainforest. In a geopolitical sense Colombia borders 5 countries,Panama, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, and brazil, it is divided in 32 departments with the country`s capital located in the city of Bogota. In an economical sense Colombia is emerging as an economic power in the region, however development has been hampered by corruption and the internal conflict that has raged here since the past century, The Colombian economy is bolstered by such activities like commerce, tourism, and exportations, the country`s main export product is coffee, which is regarded as the best in the world. Colombian culture is mainly inherited from the Spaniards that colonized our country, however , since the past century many peoples from all over the world came to Colombia, and incorporated their cultures into ours.

Barranquilla is my home city, i was born and raised here, Barranquilla is located in the northern coast of Colombia, in the Atlantico department, of whom it is its Capital. Barranquilla is one of the most cultural places in Colombia, partly because of all the different cultures and ethnic groups that live here, but mainly because of the " Carnaval de Barranquilla ", the second biggest carnival in the world, and one of the main reason of why Barranquilla is famous. Barranquilla´s climate is very hot,it is so hot that sometimes it is over 40 degrees hot, however near Barranquilla we have some beaches such as Puerto velero and Puerto Colombia, which are not the best, but they are ok. Just outside Barranquilla there lies the Magdalena river, One of the largest in America, and which marks the border with the magdalena department. In the recent years Barranquilla has grown exponentially both economically and territorially , thanks in part to tourism and other commercial activities. The people of Barranquilla come from all over the world, the largest amount of inmigrants come from the middle east, Europe, and Africa. I like to live in Barranquilla, and i think it is a nice city.

My neighborhood is called Granadillo, I have lived here all my life. I live in a big apartment in the 6th floor of a 12 story building, i live in front of a hospital, an Olimpica, and a gas station. My neighborhood is not quiet at all, especially because i live in front of a hospital which likes to send an ambulance every 5 minutes, honestly it tends to drive me mad sometimes. Near my home theres is a soccer field called la castellana, although everyone calls it "La cancha del pibe", i also live near the "Universidad autonoma", there is also a hotel called Windsor hotel, a little mall, which has a gym called Barcelona plaza, and several restaurants and stores along the, honestly even though it is a busy neighborhood,  i have grown attached to it,  since i have lived here all my life. I don't go out much since my neighborhood is so busy, and i tend to stay in my home unless i go to hang out with my friends, and also because there is A LOT of traffic, so its kind of complicated to cross the street, but in the end i like my neighborhood.
